About Me

I’m a science journalist and photographer, covering energy, natural resources and environmental health. After studying Comparative Human Development and Creative Writing at the University of Chicago, I finished my master’s degree in science writing at MIT.

I’m most interested in how rural communities are responding to environmental issues. In Vermont, I’ve interviewed goat farmers who are watching their industry shrivel away. In Wisconsin, I’ve written about how a deadly deer disease is changing what it means to be a midwestern hunter. And in Arizona, I’ve reported on how community values can dictate land management, creating unequal access to public spaces.

You can find my photography here and my published writing here.
